WDCA 40 overs cricket
The West Demerara Cricket Association (WDCA) 40 overs cricket tournament continued last Sunday with victories for Cornelia Ida (CI), Zeeburg, Lenora and All Youths Sports Club.
At the Cornelia Ida Ground the hosts batted first and compiled 248 with Guyana Under-15 player Akshaya Persaud contributing an attractive 77 (8×4). He received support from Nigel Viera (29) and Asgar Nazarallie (26). Bowling for La Grange Sudesh Singh had 3-48 and Roydel Benjamin 2-22.
La Grange in reply were bowled out for 142, Akshaya Persaud again impressed with the ball taking 3-19 in seven overs. At the Zeeburg Ground, Zeeburg defeated Malvern while Leonora Sports Club got past Vergenoegen at Vergenoegen. All youths Sports Club also defeated Raising Storm CC in a closely contested match.
Fixtures for this weekend:
Sister Village (PG) will play Players Cricket Club at Wales Ground tomorrow. Wales CDC will be at home to Independence Cricket Club on Sunday. Windsor Forest Cricket Club will oppose Mc Gill Cricket Club at Cornelia Ida Ground on Sunday. Zeelugt Cricket Club takes on Uitvlugt Cricket Club at Zeeburg on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the WDCA Under 15 50 overs developmental games continue tomorrow with Zeeburg playing Wales CDC at Zeeburg and Cornelia Ida facing Windsor Forest Community Centre at Vergenoegen.
WDCA Competitions Committee Chairman is asking that all players who qualify to participate in Under-17 cricket make contact with the representatives in their respective zones in preparation for encampment to select the WDCA Under-17 squad.
