Kaieteur Sports – The Guyana Harpy Eagles conducted their first training session yesterday at the National Track & Field Facility, Leonora, with preparations for this 2026/27 season already hitting the ground running.
With the schedule for the Men’s season not yet confirmed, players and franchise alike will kick start their year with daily/weekly sessions geared towards ensuring that form and fitness are among the key areas of non-stop work.

The Guyana Harpy Eagles clocked in their first official training session of the new year yesterday at the National Track & Field Facility, Leonora.
The Guyana Harpy Eagles got their 2026 off to a positive start by virtue of an outdoor session yesterday, which revolved mostly around testing the cardio and core form of the players, who carried out the various runs on the synthetic surface of the facility.
Players ran the traditional Beep Test, while shuttles and other full-body physical tests were conducted under the expert eyes of Head Coach Ryan Hercules and Assistant Coach Garvin Nedd.
Following the break from the 2025/26 season, teams Caribbean-wide had a bit of time off following a busy 2025 and will now look to regain their playing form while increasing their conditioning ahead of what should be another competitive season of Regional cricket.
Guyana will be looking to use 2026 as a year to fully embrace the tons of new talent which they have identified over the last year. Given the uncertainty of dates for a number of Regional events such as the Men’s Super50 or the Breakout League; it is essential for teams not only the Eagles but other franchises to maintain a busy training schedule, as to ensure that all boxes are ticked ahead of any confirmed starts to the new season.
