As police continue their battle against the drug traders who are using the backtrack route to Suriname, four more persons were held on Saturday after two were nabbed on Wednesday.
According to information, around 15:00hrs that day, the police acting on information swooped down on one of the popular back track crossings at No 78 Village, Upper Corentyne and arrested four persons who were waiting to cross. A search of one of the bags in their possession unearthed two kilograms of cocaine and 600 grams of cannabis. The four persons were all taken into custody as investigation continues.
It is understood that three of the four persons arrested –a man, his wife and his son— are from Vryheid’s Lust, East Coast Demerara, and the other, from Georgetown.
