Ashley Khalil, the Caribbean Girls U-19 defending champ, was upstaged by the agile Nyron Joseph who provided the first upset of the tournament as he played above expectations to accomplish the feat.
The first game was decided by sheer experience as Khalil was able to command play at 9-9 to secure the first at 11-9.
The perseverant Joseph, full of heart and energy, was not budged by this loss to swiftly take the second game 11-4 , he kept his momentum as he increased the pace of the game which his springy legs and diving leaps of faith could handle, thus leading him to take the third at 11-6. The final game showed that even though being in such a position would rattle most younger players, he admirably managed to stay focused and take victory at 11-8.
