Sexual allegations against anti-government East Indian politicians

Something is rotten in the state of Denmark. Why is there a sudden rush of sexual allegations against very prominent East Indian politicians who are penetrating and effective anti- Government activists? Something seems not only rotten but go beyond decomposition and decay in the state of Guyana.
The gargantuan headache this thing is creating for the Guyanese people is the zealous pursuits of the police officers in these situations.
A young lady, a former tenant of Mr. Peter Ramsaroop, made a complaint of being videotaped, secretly. The police secured a warrant and swooped down on every property Ramsaroop owned in Demerara.
At the time of writing I don’t know if they have crossed the Berbice and Essequibo Rivers, assuming Ramsaroop have properties in those counties.
At this time, I am keeping an open mind but I hope to do my investigation. If the young lady is reading this I am indicating to her that I would like to talk to her.
My curiosity is to ascertain if she has any remote or intimate connection with an actor highly placed in the corridors of power.
I cannot comment on the CN Sharma indictments because that is sub judice but again the police’s fanatical energy seems disturbing.
Why were the police in a rush to put Sharma in handcuffs while transporting him from hospital to court house? Was that to have him photographed by the press so as to cause humiliation? Why did the police prosecutor apply for denial of bail? Why the DPP chose to prosecute herself given some controversy about the DPP’s alleged political perambulation?
Have media organizations spoken to Mark Benschop who on his internet radio station said he has spoken to the mother of the children in the Sharma trial?
One dimension of the Peter Ramsaroop episode that needs journalistic investigation is a statement allegedly made by Home Affairs Minister Rohee which is quoted in one of the state organs.
Rohee explaned that the police have informed him of the proceedings. Why? Under the law, the police are independent of the subject Minister.
The Minister cannot direct the police on administration and investigations. The famous encounter between Paul Slowe and Ronald Gajraj stands out. Slow was at the time in charge of the Berbice division. Gajraj at the time was Home Affairs Minister.
Gajraj instructed Slowe to return a firearm from a suspect who was released from questioning. Slowe’s objection was that Gajraj had no legal basis for issuing an edict to him.
Time after time, Rohee has made statements that would make one believe that he is interested in the investigative dimension of police work.
In this situation, why would the police want to keep Rohee informed when criminal investigations and their contours are not within the jurisdiction of the Minister?
Mr. Sharma has been charged so the press has to observe the sub judice convention. Mr. Ramsaroop isn’t therefore fair comment on a mater of public interest is in order.
All I am prepared to assess at this time is the pattern of sexual allegations against prominent East Indian politicians who are in the anti-government camp.
Something is not adding up here and this now brings us to political analysis
There are three scenarios in which the PPP can lose the next elections.
First, all the Indians keep faith with the PPP but the Amerindians defect. Secondly, the Indians keep faith with the PPP but the whopping thousands of south Georgetown youths who are apathetic register and vote against the PPP.
Thirdly, with the declining numbers of the Indians, the opposition parties get into their act and target the Indian communities. In all of these configurations, East Indian politicians on the opposition front are important.
Remember at the last poll Sharma should have been give a top-up seat. Steve Surujbally who is never at a loss for words has remained forever silent on this issue
Could it be then that as we draw closer to the election peak, a frightened ruling cabal is facing a nightmare and is targeting Indian opposition personalities with the stain of sexual misconduct? It may be getting ugly.
For example, this writer has no political ambition although I did write that I will campaign in the election against the PPP and that is a promise I made to myself.
Yet I was called a man-kisser. I wasn’t annoyed at the vilification; it comes with the territory.
What I couldn’t understand is why that particular person would say that when he was not in a moral situation to make that insinuation.
I thought that was real barefacedness.
