(Kaieteur News) – Dem boys seh after de music nearly burst dem eardrum and de fishing lines nearly pull out dem eye pun de Sewalll jetty, dem boys decide to relax on de jetty and enjoy de one thing Guyana still supposed to have plenty of—fresh sea breeze.
But something wasn’t right.
After a few minutes, one boy turn to ask, “You feeling funny?”
Dem boys ask, “Funny how?”
“Like de world getting lighter.”
Dem boys look around.
De boy ask, “Yuh feeling high?”
“Yeah.” Dem boys start checking de bottle of water, wondering if somebody put rum in it.
Then dem boys realise what happening. People on de same jetty was smoking ganja openly, and de breeze was doing overtime, carrying de smoke straight into dem boys’ nostrils. Dem boys seh, “Well, well, well. We come here looking for fresh sea air and end up getting second-hand marijuana.”
Dem boys always hear about wellness centres, yoga retreats and aromatherapy. But Guyana does operate differently. Here, yuh don’t need to book a spa treatment. Just walk down to de seawall. De Georgetown Seawall now offering de complete relaxation package.
First, de car music does massage yuh eardrum. Then de fishing lines does give yuh eye exercise. And finally, de ganja smoke does relax yuh whether yuh want to relax or not.
Dem boys seh, “This place got everything except peace and quiet.”
Dem boys seh nowadays yuh can’t just go anywhere in Georgetown and expect to breathe ordinary air. De city got traffic fumes, garbage fumes, generator fumes—and now, depending on where yuh sit, complimentary ganja fumes.
Dem boys seh dem only wanted a little peace and quiet. Instead, dem get loud music, fishing lines and a free psychedelic experience.
