Save for the absence of an overwhelming crowd at the Mackenzie Sports Club Ground on Monday, the Athletics Association of Guyana (AAG) Development Meet III received got some scorching results in both senior and junior events.
Quincy Clarke had message for Rawle Greene, which he told Kaieteur Sport to deliver, in Men 100m race. The joint-service champ ran 10.76 seconds to top both Heats in the final-by-time race relegating Patrick King and Winston George.

King, who surprisingly ran three events on the day, had the second best time with 10.81 seconds while George knocked winner of the second Heat, Keith Roberts off the podium with his 10.83 time. Roberts had 10.84 seconds in his race.
The surging King narrowly missed out on winning the 200m when he and Rupert Perry leaned for the finish line for a photo finish that was given to Perry in 21.55 seconds with King taking second in 21.73 seconds. George finished a distant third in 22.29 seconds in the other hyped sprint event in scorching heat.
King, in an attempt to probably ensure that he goes home with a gold medal, returned for his third individual race of the day-the Men’s 400m, which he won in 50.93 seconds with Leslain Baird second with 51.41 and Afeez Samad third in 51.53 seconds.
Inter-Guiana Games’ Tiffany Carto completed a double in the female youth 100m and the 200m races respectively. She won the 100m in 12.52 seconds leaving Deja Smartt second with 12.82 and Makeisha Dash third in 13.27 seconds.
Carto then blistered the field in the 200m in a relatively fast 25.60 seconds as Shanice Hatton ran 27.32 and Keyandra Zephyr 27.80 for second and third. Carto continued to be dominant over these events at this level ahead of the Games.
Davin Fraser blasted his way, in a similar fashion, to a double in the male versions of the youth sprint events. He won the 100m in 11.20 seconds and the 200m in 22.58 seconds at the renowned facility. Fraser beat Yannick Braithwaite (11.76) and Chappelle Corbin (11.78) in the 100m and Calvin Babb (22.87) and Marlon Moshette (23.15) in the 200m race respectively.
Felicia Sullivan won the Women 400m race in 1:07.42 from Teshanna Punch, who had a time of 1:15.00 for second and Shion Boyer, who ran 1:09.94 for third. Seasoned athletes, Dennis Horatio, Janella Jonas and Kevin Bailey were also impressive.
Jonas completed the list of athletes who won doubles with win the 800 and 1500m races. She won the 800m in 2:26.83 leaving Rebeka Alexander in second with 2:30.15 and Michaela Adams third in 2:31.28 seconds. Earlier in the day, Jonas had won the 1500m in 5:15.75 with Shanika Chapman in second with 5:31.44 and Tisha Grimes third in 5:41.33 in that order.
Carlon Halley left Bailey in second in the male 1500m race with a time of 4:18.69 while Bailey had 4:20.44 and Kelvin Ceres 4:30.09 for third. However, Bailey came back to take the 800m race in 2:01.70 from Ceres (2:01.96) and Patrick Corlette (2:04.96).
Horatio won a comfortable 5000m in 16:44.46 while Jamaal Chisholm placed second in a time of 16:51.81 and Nathaniel Giddings (17:15.89) before a few heated relay battles between the Guyana Police Force and Guyana Defence Force brought the curtains down on the day’s activities.
