Richard Latiff slams 176* in Regal X1’s 242; highest scores to date

As the battle for the top prize of ONE MILLION dollars in the GT&T sponsored nationwide 1010 cricket competition continues, Richard Latiff has recorded the highest score, blasting 176 for his team Regal X1 in a record score of 242. Following are the results of all the matches contested last weekend.
Zone A, round 4 at the Uitvlugt Community centre ground
Feb 21 – Ruimzeight Sports Club lost to Uitvlugt A by 53 runs; Wolf Warriors hammered Den Amstel by 7 wickets; Western Tigers roared to a 23 run win over Gaza XI; Western Tigers also won their clash against Muslim Youth All Stars United by 7 wickets
Round 5 – Wolf Warriors also won by a similar margin against Uitvlugt A with Azad Azeez stroking 40 out of their winning total of 93.
On Sunday, at the Everest Cricket Club ground in a round 6 encounter Western Tigers will face off against Wolf Warriors in what is expected to be an enthralling battle.
Zone B, round 3 at the Wales Community Centre ground
Feb 20 – Goed Intent Policing Group arrested West Side All Stars by 8 wickets; All Star outshone Demerara Speed Boat Club by 99 runs; Nis XI lost to Saw Pit by 26 runs; Game 11 did not survive their clash with K’s Comprehensive School who won by 20 runs; Wales CDC defeated Stanley Town All Star by 34 runs.
Round 4 – Wales CDC squeezed past All Star by 8 runs; Goed Intent Policing Group took out K’s Comprehensive School by 5 wickets; Saw Pit drew the bye.
Round 5 – Saw Pit were beaten by Wales CDC by 32 runs; Goed Intent Policing Group drew a bye and will face Wales Community Development Centre on Sunday at the Everest ground in a round 6 match up.
Zone D, round 2 at the Providence ground
Feb 20 – Providence Street Boys won by walk over from Highway Royals; Youths in Development thrashed The Almighty XI by 8 wickets; Rising Stars were not allowed to shine losing out to D Generation DX by 7 wickets; Diamond All Stars beat Pine Star XI by 5 wickets; Herstelling Raiders cooled down Blue Ice by a massive 110 runs, the star of the win being Sheldon Porch who grabbed 4 wickets for 2 runs including a maiden; Sand Drifter drifted to defeat at the hands of Superior Woods by 9 wickets; Oceans X1 drowned out Rising Star XI by 6 wickets; Rising Star outshone Grove Hikers by 19 runs.
Round 2 at Diamond ground
Feb 20 – East Bank renegades got past Eccles Sports Club by 2 wickets; Rising up from the dust hammered Combined United by 8 wickets; Dry Doc romped to a tense 14 win over Hill Foot Strikers; Timehri Upsetters were 2 wicket winners over Alliance Road Cricket Team; Navin XI convincingly lost to Timehri Scramblers by 9 wickets; Airport XI flew to a 16 run win over Diamond Daredevils with Ericky Thomas slamming 52; Diamond All Stars whipped Pine Start X1 by 5 wickets; Limacol Boyz (New GPC Inc.) took care of Grove Backstreet XI by 5 wickets;  Wild Tigers were tamed by Non Strikers by 73 runs; Combined United Sports Club defeated Land of Canaan Dare Devils win by 6 wickets; Clear Water won by walk over Super Kings.
Round 3 – Providence
Feb 21 – Timehri Scramblers took care of Rising Stars 4 wickets; East Bank Renegades got past Youths in Development by 35 runs; Timehri Upsetters lost to Clear Water by 42 runs, Shaheed Gittens slamming an unbeaten 70 out of his team’s total of 128; Airport X1 docked Dry Doc by 9 wickets; Herstelling Raiders flooded out Oceans XI.
Diamond ground Feb 21
Non Strikers were soundly beaten by Combined United Sports Club by 8 wickets, K. Sergeant stroked an attractive 59; Providence Street Boys (blasted their way past D Generation DX by 45 runs; Rising up from the Dust squeezed past Limacol Boyz (New GPC Inc.) by 5 runs; Diamond All Stars pitched as they lost to Superior Woods by 58 runs.
Round 4 – Diamond ground
Round (4) play is set for Saturday at the Diamond ground and will see Herstelling Raiders taking on Superior Woods; Clear Water oppose Combine United Sports Club; Timehri Scramblers come up against Airport XI; East Bank Renegades challenge Rising up from the Dust while Providence Street Boys drew the bye to the next round.
Zone E, round 3 at the Everest Cricket Club
Feb 20 – Police A arrested Charlestown Boy’s by 54 runs, Trevor Benn blasted 93*; Vee Bees humbled Monar by 9 wickets; Guyoil A were too smooth for Ghetto Start United who lost by 30 runs; Festival City Warriors beat West Ruimveldt Cricket Team by 75 runs; (0637).
Festival City by 75 runs; Super Nova suffered a heartbreaking 2 run loss to the Dare Devils; Police A went down to Fire Rangers also by a 2 run margin; Dyna’s Bravados lost another close encounter to Trophy Stall XI by 8 runs; Felix Austin Police Collage B were no match for Everest Cricket Club who won by 8 wickets while Super Starz hammered IPED High Flyers also by 8 wickets.
Soft Ball Association – Feb 20
Avatar XI took care of Durban Warriors by 3 wickets; Republic Royals rocked Shockers by 4 wickets; Reagal XI ravished Top Shottas by a massive 210 runs with Richard Latiff blasting 176* the highest individual score of the tournament to date as his team made the highest total so far, 242; Upsetters destroyed Renegade XI by 9 wickets; Black Circle Tigers edged Courts B by the slimmest of margins, 1 run.
Everest    , round 4 – Feb 21
Fish out of Water lost to Elegance All Star by 1 wicket; Elegance All Star knocked out Super Starz with a 6 wicket triumph; Guyoil A edged out Republic Royals by a better run rate after fading light; Vee Bees went down to Regal XI by 6 wickets; Trophy Stall XI prevailed over Renegade XI by 57 runs; Festival City Warriors upstaged Everest Cricket Club by 36 runs; Dare Devils lost to Black Circle Tigers by 20 runs; Fire Rangers burned Avatar XI by 15 runs.
Round 5, set for Saturday at the Everest ground will see Regal XI playing Fire Rangers; Festival City Warriors oppose Black Circle Tigers; Elegance All Star face Guyoil A with Trophy Stall XI drawing the bye. Round 6 will also be played on Saturday at the same venue with round 8 on Sunday.
Zone F lower, round 3 at the Ogle ground
Feb 20 – Mike Photocopying XI beat Savage XI by 4 wickets; Full Clips lost their clash with De Hitters by 70 runs; Gangotown Warriors sneaked past LBI Upsetters by 3 runs; Rockaway rocked their way to a 5 wicket win over Gaza Boys; Ebascol Educational Centre lost to Striker XI by 4 wickets; Keshan XI went down to Better Hope XI by 3 runs; ALL Star Enterprise were no match for Evolution who won by 63 runs; Youth Choice Cricket Team were booted out of the race by All Star XI who won by 43 runs; Young Flashers flashed past Jaimangal All Star Memorial by 9 wickets; Enmore cruised past Cyril Potter Collage by 5 wickets; BV United eased past Good Hope Blackcaps by 20 runs.
Round 4, Feb 21 – De Hitters went down to BV United by 20 runs; Striker XI lost to All Star XI by 73 runs; Rockaway were sent packing by Evolution by 4 wickets; Young Flashers suffered defeat at the hands of Enmore by 40 runs; Mike Photocopying XI flashed past Gangotown Warriors by 21 runs with Better Hope XI drawing the bye.
Round 5 – Evolution sneaked past Better Hope XI by 20 runs; Enmore and Mike Photocopying XI were scheduled to clash on February 23 while All Star X1 hammered BV United by 9 wickets.
