A strong Guyana All Star female rugby squad leaves today to participate in the Trinidad Enthusiasts / Caribs Sevens Championships which will be played on December 6-7 in the Twin Island Republic.
The squad which comprises a host of national players who recently competed in the NAWIRA World Cup qualifiers in the Bahamas will be coached by Elwin Chase and Troy Yhip.

Those selected are: Grace Jarvis, Sabola Gray, Carrin Carter, Shebanna Daniels, Shenelle Daniels, Carren Skeete, Desaun Josiah, Tricia Munroe, Nakita Davis, Nicole Nero, Lisa Mangru and Natalia Primo.
According to Coach Yhip, the team is a very strong one and with their recent success at the NAWIRA event where they won the Caribbean tournament for the first time, he is confident the team will do well.
Yhip said that the players were mainly short-listed from Hornets and Yamaha Caribs, the two premier clubs in the country and judging from their performance during training sessions, they looked fit and ready to bring back the title to Guyana.
“Last year, Caribs went as a single unit and reached the semi-finals, but this year, the team is much stronger and most of the players are better prepared and more attuned to Sevens rugby,” Yhip disclosed.
The squad completed their final workout yesterday, at the national Park.
Meanwhile, Guyanese Claudius Butts, Albert LaRose and UK-based Rupert Giles will appear for the West Indies squad now preparing for the upcoming Hong Kong leg of the IRB World Sevens Series to be played in March.
