Kaieteur Sports – The Upper Corentyne Cricket Association (UCCA) has organised the Manoj Rajram aka Luxury Memorial 100 Balls Cricket Competition.
The inaugural competition is for teams in the Upper Corentyne area, including Black Bush. The tournament, which is being sponsored by Manoj Rajram’s children, saw registration from some 24 team’s which is being played on a knock out basis.
First round matches got on the way recently with the inclement weather affecting some of the games.
Results of some matches played are – No. 73 Young Warriors defeated No. 69 Red Rose by 86 runs.
Batting first No. 73 Young Warriors made 156 with Lutesh Singh 39 and Lakram Lathman 37.
Kiran Chaitram took 4 wickets bowling for No 69 Red Rose who were dismissed for 70. Tariq Chaitram 25 and Matthew Douglas 20.
Bowling for No 73 Young Warriors – Ganesh Singh took 3 wickets while Azad Mohamed picked up 2.
Skeldon Jaguars defeated Skeldon Community Centre by 39 runs. Skeldon Jaguars -158 with Mahendra Chaitnarine 31 and Sarwan Chaitnarine 21.
Bowling for Skeldon Community Centre- Fazim Kalamodeen and Basil Gobin picked up two wickets each.
Skeldon Community Centre -119 with Quacy Burnett 65 and Denny George 25. Bowling for Skeldon Jaguars Trishan Ramsarran picked up three wickets.
Yakusari Caribs defeated No. 43 Scorpions under the Duckworth Lewis system. Yakusari Caribs scored 120-6 with W Vernon 38 and L. Paltu 35. Bowling for No 43 Scorpions-Andesh Dhanroop snared 3 wickets while Joel Samaroo picked up 2.
No. 43 Scorpions were 83-9 off 66 deliveries with Andesh Dhanroop 27and Patrick Trotman 22.
Bowling for Yakusari Caribs – W. Vernon took 3 wickets and Ramesh Ayana 2.
Moleson Creek Unstoppable defeated No. 70 Spartan by 7 wickets. In reply No. 70 Spartan were dismissed for 56.
Bowling for Molsen Creek Unstoppable – Ravin Boodwah 3 wickets and Navin Boodwah 2.
Molsen Creek Unstoppable in reply cruise to 57 for 3 with Navin Boodwah 19 and Ravin Boodwah 16. Gibran Yacoob picked up 2 wickets bowling for Spartans.
Grill Masters Avengers defeated Yakusari Horizon by 8 wickets. Yakusari Horizon 67 – Asif Owen 23.
Bowling for Grill Masters – Adult Ali and Charran Singh took 3 and 2 wickets respectively.
Grill Masters Avengers replied with 70-2 with Trevon Sukhu 36.
The UCCA extended their gratitude to the relatives of Manoj Rajram for their sponsorship. And emphasized that such support is vital in keeping the spirit of cricket alive and providing a platform for talent in the Upper Corentyne area.
