…Santa Rosa, St John’s, East R/veldt among winners as Massy U18 School Football continues
Kaieteur Sports – Round two of the 12th Annual Massy Distribution Schools Under-18 Football Tournament got underway yesterday, with several teams capitalising on the opportunity to secure maximum points and maintain early momentum in the competition.

Played under cool conditions following brief showers, the day’s fixtures produced a series of commanding performances, highlighted by East Ruimveldt Secondary’s emphatic 6-0 victory over Anna Regina Secondary. The win marked East Ruimveldt’s first of the tournament and set the tone for an action-packed day at the Queen’s College ground.
West Ruimveldt Secondary, Charlestown Secondary and Santa Rosa Secondary all advanced to the third round with perfect records, each recording convincing wins to remain unbeaten.
East Ruimveldt’s triumph was built on a dominant attacking display led by Josiah Norton, who produced a clinical hat-trick. Norton, alongside Jahiem Harte, spearheaded the early assault, giving their side a 2-0 lead with goals in the 21st and 30th minutes. Omari Chase extended the advantage to 3-0 with a well-taken strike, before Jaden Abrams quickly added a fourth. Norton then completed his hat-trick with goals in the 63rd and 70th minutes to seal a comprehensive win and hand Anna Regina their first loss of the tournament.

West Ruimveldt stay in contention as captain Donavan Welcome nets all three goals in 3-0 victory over Hope Secondary.

Part of the action between St John’s and Good Hope Secondary …Exciting round two action kick off yesterday at the Queen’s College ground.
In match #19, Yarrowkabra Secondary secured a 5-1 victory over Zeeburg Secondary, thanks in part to a brace from Leroy Evans. Evans opened the scoring in the 17th minute, but Zeeburg responded almost immediately through Isaiah Allicock. Adrian Welcome restored Yarrowkabra’s lead in the 22nd minute, before Kevin Degoea made it 3-1 just two minutes later. Evans added his second later in the match, while Christian Medina completed the scoring to round off an impressive team performance.
West Ruimveldt Secondary maintained their flawless run with a 3-0 win over Hope Secondary in match #24. Captain Donovan Welcome led from the front with a superb hat-trick, finding the net in the 18th, 54th and 59th minutes to secure all three points.
St John’s College also delivered a strong statement, defeating Hope Secondary 4-1 in their second-round encounter. Goals from Robinho Abrams, Josiah Nedd and Akeem Stephens guided them to victory, reinforcing their status as strong contenders in this year’s championship.
Later in the day, Charlestown Secondary edged New Amsterdam Secondary 1-0 in a tightly contested match, while Santa Rosa Secondary recorded the most dominant result of the day, thrashing Brickdam Secondary 12-0 in a one-sided affair.
The tournament is sponsored by Massy Distribution, with support from the Ministry of Education and Demerara Mutual Group. Action continues today at the same venue, with kickoff scheduled for 09:45h.
