It was disappointing support but the athletes ensured that they made the best of the conditions provided at the Enmore Community Centre ground yesterday.

Potential stars such as Carlwyn Collins, Jonathan Fagundes, Janella Jonas and Alika Morgan had to resort to their respective camps for support in the Athletics Association of Guyana national youth and junior meet.
Collins won the 400m boys’ under–18 race in 53.90 seconds with Learie Campbell second in 55.50 and Andre Josiah third in 57.30.
Collins later returned to take the 200m in 24.10 seconds with Kevin Bailey (24.60) and Josiah (24.90) finishing third and second respectively.
Fagundes won the 1500m boys’ under–18 race in 4:45.60 with Ricardo Martin in second with 4:46.00 and Michael Thomas (4:57.80) in third.
Fagundes (2:04.20) had earlier lost the 800m to Martin (2:03.30) with Campbell (2:07.20) in third.
Jonas won both the girls’ 800m and 1500m under–18 races in times of 2:30.60 and 5:24.00 respectively with Carlisa Atkinson (2:34.90 and 5:38.30) second on both occasions.
Jevina Straker (2:35.90) was third in the 800m while Toshawnna Doris (5:47.60) was third in the 1500m event.
Morgan won both the girls’ 1500m and 5000m run in times of 5:31.60 and 21.11.60 respectively with Leanna Doris (6:15.30 and 26:01.30) second in the 1500m and 5000m. There were only two competitors in both races.

Girls’ 400m Under–18 race: Letitia Myles (1:04.05), Keyandra Zephyr (1:05.01) and Ianna Graham (1:06.40).
Boys’ 400m Under–20 race: Patrick King (54.50), Ian Campbell (54.90) and Afeez Samad (55.20).
Girls’ 100m Under–18 race: Deja Smartt (13.60) and Tiffany Carto (13.90). There were only two competitors in this event.
Boys’ 100m Under–18 race: Chavez Ageday (11.60), Kevin Bailey (11.90) and Ryan Caesar (12.00).
Girls’ 100m Under–20 race: Leota Babb (12.90) and Nadine Rodrigues (13.40). There were only two competitors in this event.
Boys’ 3000m Under–18 race: Michael Thomas (10:59.10) and Hayden Harry (11:02.40). There were only two competitors in this event.
Girls’ 200m Under–18 race: Myles (27.40), Graham (28.00) and Carto (28.30).
Boys’ 200m Under– 20 race: Ian Campbell (23.90) Patrick King (24.20) and Alton Seaforth (24.50).
