A thrilling night of Secondary School football unfolded at the Ministry of Education Ground on Sunday, as the Massy Distribution Schools Under-18 Tournament semifinals delivered goals, drama, and two deserving finalists. Chase’s Academic Foundation and Santa Rosa Secondary School emerged victorious to book their places in this weekend’s championship match.
Chase’s Academic Foundation stamped their authority early, producing a commanding 7-0 demolition of Charlestown Secondary School. Determined to make a statement, Chase overwhelmed their opponents from the outset, racing to a 3-0 lead before halftime.
Captain Shaquan David opened the scoring alongside Malcolm Hendricks, before Nyron Barrow added a third in the 27th minute with a curling left-footed effort from the right side that slipped past the goalkeeper at the near post.
The second half brought more of the same dominance. Mark Glasgow struck just three minutes after the restart to make it 4-0, while Onasi Dunn capitalized on a midfield interception to extend the lead further. David returned to the scoresheet with a composed finish after skillful buildup play, and Jaden Christian completed the rout with a clinical strike through the goalkeeper’s legs.
Speaking after the match, David expressed confidence ahead of the final, stating that his team is prepared for “whoever comes next” as they aim to prove themselves the best school side in the country.

Chase’s Academic Foundation advance to final with another dominant display against Charlestown Secondary.
The second semifinal proved far more competitive, as Santa Rosa Secondary battled to a dramatic penalty shootout victory over West Ruimveldt Secondary School following a 2-all draw.
West Ruimveldt struck first through captain Donovan Welcome, who gave his side an early advantage. However, a goalkeeping error allowed Paul Thomas to equalize, before Andell James put Santa Rosa ahead by redirecting a free-kick into the net.
Welcome responded from the penalty spot to level proceedings, and the contest continued at a frenetic pace, with both teams trading goals to end regulation and extra time locked at 3-3.
The match was ultimately decided from the penalty spot, where Santa Rosa held their nerve to secure an 8-7 victory in sudden death, sealing their place in the final against Chase’s Academic Foundation.
The tournament, sponsored by Massy Distribution, is endorsed by the Ministry of Education, with additional support from Demerara Mutual Life Assurance Society and the Ministry of Culture Youth and Sports.
