L N&B Fuel Pump Repairs & Service captures ER Small Engines Rookie Golf Tournament at Westside Golf Course
Kaieteur Sports – Westside Golf Course came alive on Sunday as dozens of cricketers, seasoned and first-time golfers took part in the inaugural Dave’s ER Small Engines Rookie Golf Tournament, a first-of-its-kind event that combined team competition with individual golf challenges.
Winners row- local golfers enjoyed some time out on the Greens this past holiday weekend as part of the Dave’s ER Small Engine /GGA tournament.
After a day filled with impressive displays of golfing talent from newcomers to the sport, L N&B Fuel Pump Repairs & Service emerged as the overall champions. The winning team consisted of Chabilall Mangal, Nandrani Deen, and Temeish Shivprasad.
Finishing a close second was the Westside Golf Course team, represented by Afrawz Baksh, Adrain Savory, and Yosiel Pinero Cordero, while Timehri’s Team July claimed third place through the efforts of Lincon July, JorgeLuis Cabrera-Hechavarria, and Vashti July.
Brian Headley’s Mystic Marvels could not overcome a slow start to place in the top three despite a valiant effort from their Captain but rounded out the top five with ER Small Engines team.
Tournament organizers Dave’s ER Small Engines presented the First Place Cash Prize this past weekend’s winner.
The tournament attracted players from various cricket clubs and communities, many of whom were experiencing organized golf competition for the very first time, along with several seasoned players from other golf clubs.
President of the GGA Aleem Hussain praised the enthusiasm displayed by participants and noted that the Westside Golf Course has successfully showcased golf as an accessible, family-friendly sport that can be enjoyed by people of all ages and backgrounds.
In addition to the team competition, novice players also participated in the Advanced skill challenge against established golfers who were shocked by the incredible power hitting of Jason King who had a perfect score to decisively win the category.
Tournament organizer Dave’s ER Small Engines expressed gratitude to all players, volunteers, and sponsors who contributed to the success of the event. He noted that the overwhelming interest from participants demonstrated the growing appeal of golf in Guyana and highlighted the important role that beginner-friendly tournaments play in introducing new players to the game.
The success of the tournament was made possible through the support of Marvels Hardware & Construction Inc., SR Service Center, Cellular Plus, Bila Mining, and Westside Golf Course, whose contributions helped provide cash prizes, trophies, equipment, and facilities for the competitors.
Other sponsors included Royal Castle Guyana Guyana; Comfort Sleep; SuperBet, Madewini Gardens Eco Resort, Party Castle, Dustin Spivey; Kumar Suspension Parts, Regal Stationery and Toolsie Persaud Ltd.
