Kaieteur Sports – The race for the 2026 Blue Water Shipping Secondary Schools Girls’ U-15 National Championship reaches its defining stage today at the National Training Centre in Providence as four of the nation’s top schools prepare to battle for two coveted places in the championship final.

After surviving a fiercely contested quarterfinal round on Saturday, Marian Academy, Annai Secondary, President’s College and Waramuri Secondary remain standing, each just one victory away from a shot at national glory.
With the title now within touching distance, today’s semifinal clashes promise high-intensity football as every tackle, pass and finish could determine who advances to the winner-take-all championship encounter later in the day.
The quarterfinals delivered all the drama expected from the business end of the competition, with every side forced to earn its place in the final four.
Marian Academy edged past Wauna Secondary in the opening quarterfinal, grinding out a hard-fought 1-0 victory. In a tightly contested affair where chances were at a premium, Ella Fernandes produced the decisive finish to separate the two sides and keep Marian’s championship ambitions alive.
Annai Secondary followed with an assured display against Madhia Secondary, powered by a clinical brace from Sherine Ewell. Her two-goal performance secured a comfortable 2-0 triumph and reinforced Annai’s credentials as genuine title contenders.
President’s College later stamped their authority in the third quarterfinal clash with an impressive 3-0 victory over Abram Zuil Secondary. Neisa Lewis opened the scoring with a composed finish after controlling the midfield, while Dilma Edwards doubled the advantage with an excellent solo effort, weaving past defenders before firing home. Sadie Misircompleted the scoring in the second half to send President’s College confidently into today’s semifinals.

Completing the semifinal lineup was Waramuri Secondary, who continued their impressive campaign with a convincing 3-0 win over New Central High. Zabits Harris broke the deadlock just before halftime after capitalising on a loose ball inside the penalty area, before DarwinaBoyaltook center stage with a second-half brace to put the result beyond doubt and underline Waramuri’s attacking threat.
Now, with only four teams left in contention, the margin for error has disappeared. Marian Academy, Annai Secondary, President’s College and Waramuri Secondary all carry momentum into today’s decisive fixtures, but only two will earn the right to contest the championship final.
By day’s end, the Guyana Football Federation will crown its 2026 Blue Water Shipping Secondary Schools Girls’ U-15 National Champion, bringing another exciting edition of the tournament to a fitting conclusion.
Backed by the continued support of Blue Water Shipping, the championship continues to provide a valuable platform for the country’s emerging female talent, creating opportunities for young footballers to develop while inspiring the next generation of players across Guyana. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
