(Kaieteur News) – A female part-time worker is coping with severe trauma after she was reportedly raped by the brother of her husband on Thursday evening, who she related committed the act on her as his self- demanding birthday present.
Police have since arrested the suspect who is to be charged in the new week.
The 26-year-old victim, who lives with her young daughter in a West Bank Berbice community, told the media on Friday that on Thursday afternoon, she had just returned from work and had completed cleaning up her yard with her daughter
“I got so tired, I went by my friend, sit down and gyaf lil bit, then I come home by 8:30, and gon’ in bed,” she stated.
Just about 9, she mentioned that she heard what sounded like a knock on the wall. As she cautiously arose and glanced through a crease in the wall, she did not observe anyone. She would return to bed and try to resume sleep.
“I sleep again, (then) I hear a sound like a foot stomped in the house. And I jump up and I look, there is my brother-in-law, my husband brother.”
In no time the man violently grabbed her by her neck, brushing aside an electronic tablet she tried to reach for which was on the bed. He did not possess any weapon.
“He start to choke me. I came off the bed and he hold me and carry me next to the fridge.”
Her protestations were met with immediate threats to both her and her daughter’s lives, which she explained prompted her fearful compliance. The intruder then made clear his intention while bracing her to the fridge.
“He said that today is he birthday, and that I didn’t give him anything. I said ‘I don’t have anything to give you’. He said he ain’t come for that, he come to (expletives used) her. I said I am not doing that, I would not do that,” the victim recounted
The man then intensified his demands, asserting that he would not leave her home until his desires are granted. His aggression would further increase; she stated that he yanked her hair while tightening his grip on her neck.
“The bed had two mattresses. He told me to take one of the mattress and throw it on the ground. I told him no, my daughter sleeping on the bed.”
As she refused, the man reportedly snatched a pillow instead and placed it on the floor, then removed his clothing. He then did the same to her. Repeatedly pleas for him to leave were ignored, as the man placed her in a lying position then positioned himself atop her and began to kiss her.
Her struggles were futile, she said, since the man had her pinned. The assailant would take it further by inserting his finger into the woman’s vagina, before taking out his penis and rubbing it on her in order to become erected. Also, she was ordered to perform oral sex, which she refused.
The man would eventually have his way with her, physically subduing her and forcing himself inside of her.
Throughout the harrowing ordeal, she pleaded with him to desist, but the man disregarded her with profanities. After raping her he took a ‘Sting’ from her fridge and casually drank it. Before leaving, he reportedly told her he enjoyed himself, and anticipates another sexual occasion with her. He also warned that no one should have knowledge of what had happened.
Moments after the incident, the victim disclosed that her daughter, who she thought was sleeping, started crying. The child told her that when she heard the threats, she closed her eyes and pretended to sleep, therefore she had no idea what transpired fully. She did see her uncle choke her; the child related to her.
Neighbours and friends would assist her to the hospital where she was examined by a doctor.
The woman disclosed that relationship was strained with her and her in-laws, and noted that she and her attacker in particular were never on peaceful terms.

Back in the Old Days in Guyana, birthday celebration was at a rum shop with
few close friends, after which we headed home on our bicycles.
Seems,” BIL” has had his eyes set on his brother’s wife for a while.
Did he have a KEY to enter the home ? Or he just forced the entry door.
Sister in Law is lucky to survive this ordeal, and he didn’t touch her daughter,
who would be a very good witness.
RAPE WITH VIOLENCE, BREAK AND ENTER. He should be held
without bail until trial.
Too many of these crimes, and murders rule the country. Guyana need to
start executing those convicted of murders, and life sentences for rapes of
anyone-adult, or children( male and female).
