Kaieteur Sports – The Athletics Association of Guyana will be hosting the National Seniors, Youth and Juniors track and field athletics championship 2026 during the period Friday 2026-06-26 to Sunday 2026-06-28 at the Lenora Track and Field Centre.
This competition is the premier Championships for the association since it brings together the elite corps of their local athletes who will be showcasing their talents with the aim of qualifying for other world events, mainly the World under 20 Championships 2026 scheduled to be held in Eugene, Oregon, USA from August 5th to 9th, 2026. Additionally, there is the COMMONWEALTH Games 2026 scheduled to be held in July 23rd to August 2nd in Glasgow, Scotland.
To ensure a well-coordinated competition the association has put together a Local Organising committee which has been working assiduously to ensure all systems are in place for the championships.
To date the championships have attracted several sponsors, namely, the Guyana Beverage Inc, Ministry of Culture Youth and Sports, National Sports Commission and the Guyana Olympic Association to name a few.
The general public is urged to come out and support our local athletes, on Friday 26th June the competition starts at 5 pm, Saturday 27th June from 10 am and Sunday 28 June also at 10 am.
