Bandits escape with $12M during home invasion at Canal #1
(Kaieteur News) – Two bandits invaded the Canal No. 1, West Bank Demerara (WBD) home of a farmer on Wednesday and escaped with some $12 million in cash.
Police said the armed robbery took place around 20:15 hrs.
The farmer told police that he was sitting under a shed on the lower flat of his home with relatives when two men, armed with hand guns, entered his yard.
The bandits took them to the kitchen area and ordered them to lay on the floor while demanding valuables.
They then started beating the farmer who subsequently led them to a white backet inside the home where the cash was being kept.
The suspects removed the cash and grabbed four cell-phones before escaping in a waiting silver-tinted Toyota Axio motor car.
Police are presently analysing security footage to aid their investigations.
