The government in the 2026 budget allocated $3.6 billion to further enhance the infrastructural capacity of the Guyana Police Force.
Undertaking similar projects in other part of the country, the Home Affairs Ministry had reported that the construction of these facilities is aimed at enhancing public safety, strengthening law enforcement capacity, and bringing essential services closer to residents.
Commissioning similar police station projects, the ministry noted before that these new facilities are equipped with male, female, juvenile, and isolation holding cells, along with specialised spaces such as a Child-Friendly Area and a Domestic Violence Interview and Waiting Room. It also includes key operational areas such as Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Traffic, Enquiries, evidence storage, and living quarters for ranks.
