(Kaieteur News) – A Police Corporal attached to Regional Police Division # 3 Traffic Department was on Sunday morning seriously injured in an accident along the Hague Public Road, West Coast Demerara (WCD).
The accident which occurred at about 12:03h involved a motorcycle belonging to the Guyana Police Force (GPF) bearing registration number CR 6252 and a motorcar bearing registration number PPP 758 which was driven by a 39-year-old man from Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara (WBD).
“Preliminary investigations revealed that motor car #PPP 758 was stationary on the northern side of the roadway, facing east, when the driver reportedly made a U-turn across the road and collided with Force motorcycle #CR 6252, which was proceeding east along the northern side of Hague Public Road,” police said in a statement.
As a result of the collision, the corporal was flung over the motor car and fell onto the road, where he sustained injuries about to his body.
He was picked up by public-spirited persons in a conscious condition and taken to the Leonora Cottage Hospital, where he was examined. He was later transferred to the De Kinderen Regional Hospital for further medical attention.
A breathalyser test was conducted on the driver of motor car #PPP 758 and no trace of alcohol was detected.
The driver is in police custody assisting with investigations.
Investigations are ongoing.
