Upsets sum up day two as eight more teams advance in ‘Stars Among Stars’ Futsal competition
Kaieteur Sports – The second day of the ‘Stars Among Stars’ Futsal Championship delivered a rollercoaster of excitement and surprises, as the tournament heats up with fierce battles and dramatic upsets. Billed for the National Gymnasium, Monday’s action showcased the intensity and unpredictability that has become the hallmark of local Futsal competition.
The eventual winners will secure $1.5 million in cash, the tournament offers over four million dollars in cash prizes and is proudly supported by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport through its ‘One Guyana’ initiative.
The day kicked off with Broad Street making a commanding statement, securing a 3-1 victory over Avocado Ballers in a dominant display. Their decisive win set the tone for an action-packed evening that would witness shock results and heroic performances.

Perhaps the most shocking upset came as Herstelling Futsal team handed Albouystown a humiliating 5-1 defeat. Albouystown was unable to recover after conceding an early goal, with Herstelling exploiting defensive lapses to dominate proceedings, eventually winning 5-1.
Leopold Street also delivered a statement, dismantling the Spanish side with a 4-1 rout. Their clinical execution and stalwart defence at crucial moments proved instrumental in securing a commanding victory, further cementing their status as serious contenders for the round of sixteen.
The match involving Team Cruel and Festival City was a tight affair, with the latter edging out the former 1-0 after a tense battle. Conversely, Northeast advanced seamlessly, as Stevedore failed to make an appearance.
Back Circle also moved forward, overcoming Pablo City 2-0 in a disciplined performance.
The evening’s action concluded with dominant wins from Team Spirit and Bent Street. Spirit showcased their offensive prowess by defeating Unity Ballers 4-2, while Bent Street delivered a resounding 4-0 victory over Team Madrid, reaffirming their status as formidable contenders.
With eight more teams advancing, the tournament continues to captivate its supporters with high-octane action, surprising results, and new emerging stars.
