Kaieteur Sports – The 2026 Stars Among Stars Futsal Championship burst into effect on Sunday evening at the National Gymnasium, delivering a thrilling opening night packed with goals, drama, and dominant performances.
The Gymnaisum came alive on Sunday with a fast-paced Futsal showdown as eight matches lit up the court, setting the tone for what promises to be an intense month of futsal action. With 32 teams vying for supremacy and four million in cash and prizes at stake, the tournament is already showcasing some of the country’s finest talent.
Among the early standouts were Team Immaculate, Kingston, Gold is Money, East Coast All Stars, Team Family, Laing Avenue, Bent Steet and Sparta Boss, all of whom secured victories to advance.

In the evening’s most competitive clash, East Coast All Stars overcame Team Make it Happen via penalties after a 3-3 draw in regulation time. Both sides traded goals but were unable to find a winner before the shootout.

Goals and more goals! ‘Stars among Stars’ off to an excellent start as several teams announce dominance.
Team Family advanced with a convincing 4-1 win over Determine Ballers, Bent Street upset Young Stars 5-0, while Laing Avenue secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory against Corinthians.
Sparta Boss produced the most emphatic result of the night, thrashing Ballers Family 8-0 in a dominant display. Widely regarded as one of the tournament’s strongest contenders, Sparta Boss sent a clear message to rivals with their commanding performance.
With eight teams already through, the competition continued yesterday with more preliminary matches, as teams battled for spots in the round of sixteen.
The tournament will proceed with additional match days on May 9, 13, and 15, leading up to the semi-finals on May 29. The grand finale is set for June 5 at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
At stake is a top prize of $1.5 million and the championship trophy, as teams compete not only for silverware but also for national recognition. The championship is being staged with support from the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport under its “One Guyana” initiative, further highlighting its importance to the local sporting landscape.
