(Kaieteur News) – Two bandits reportedly woke-up a man at gun point during a home invasion around 03:00 hrs. On Sunday at Victoria Street, Albouystown, demanding cash and jewellery.
Reports reaching Kaieteur News are that the bandits escaped with one Blu cellphone valued at $20,000, an iPhone valued at $140,000, a total of $425,000 in cash and a quantity of gold jewellery.
Police said that the victim, a 51-year-old construction worker, is a tenant at the location with his wife, a nurse.
He recalled that he was sleeping in his bed when he was awoken at gunpoint by a man armed with a handgun. The second suspect was reportedly armed with a knife.
The bandits reportedly demanded that he gave money and jewellery. Fearful of being shot, he pulled open his nightstand drawer to hand over the money but the bandits had already cleaned it out before waking him-up.
After informing them that the money was gone, the bandits reportedly reminded him that he has gold and they wanted it too.
He complied and went over to a pair of sneakers where he had stashed a quantity of gold and gave it to them.
The suspects did not stop there, but ransacked the home and other bedrooms where they stole some more cash and cellphones before escaping by jumping fence and running west on Sussex Street.
Investigations are ongoing.
