(Kaieteur News) – A porter lost his life on Tuesday evening after a fuel truck on which he was travelling toppled along the new Mabura Highway at KM 28.
The dead man has been identified only as “Thiago.”
Reports reaching Kaieteur News indicate that the truck driver also sustained severe injuries and was admitted to the Linden Hospital.
The accident reportedly occurred sometime after 20:00hrs.
According to eyewitnesses, the truck’s trailer began to “sway” as the driver negotiated a turn, causing the vehicle to topple.
Both the porter and the driver were pinned inside the wreckage and had to be rescued by public-spirited citizens.
Investigations into the accident are ongoing.
