$22M contract signed to extend Mainstay Lake Nursery School
(Kaieteur News) – The Regional Democratic Council (RDC) of Region Two on Monday signed a $22 million contract for the extension of Mainstay Lake Nursery School.
According to information provided by the RDC office, the contract was signed with Baigh Nauth Construction for the extension of the Mainstay Lake Nursery School. This publication understands that Baigh Nauth was among 20 contractors that tendered for the project which was estimated to cost $25 million.

“The project, valued at $22 million, represents a significant investment in strengthening educational infrastructure within the region and providing improved facilities for our youngest learners,” the RDC stated.
The agency shared that the extension is expected to enhance the school’s capacity and create a more conducive environment for teaching and learning. The Regional Democratic Council further stated that it remains committed to advancing development across Region Two and ensuring that children have access to safe, suitable, and quality learning environments.
This publication understands that the Regional Administration was allocated a sum of $11.2 billion this year from the national budget and out of that $6.8 billion was set aside for education delivery. Mainstay/ Whyaka Village is an Amerindian community located on the Essequibo Coast and is home to roughly a 1,000 persons.
