(Kaieteur News) – A BOSAI employee was shot dead on Wednesday, allegedly by a close associate following an altercation reportedly linked to an ongoing feud involving the mother of the victim’s two children.
The dead man has been identified as Keron McDonald, of Block 22, Wismar, Linden, Region 10.
According to police, the shooting occurred at about 10:00hrs at Prasville, Wismar. Investigators have identified the alleged shooter as a 29-year-old man of Half Mile, Wismar.
Police said initial investigations revealed that McDonald was engaged in a conversation with the suspect when an altercation erupted between them.
During the confrontation, the suspect allegedly retrieved a firearm from his car and shot McDonald in the left side of his chest.
McDonald collapsed and was subsequently rushed to the Linden Hospital Complex, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The suspect was later apprehended by police.
However, McDonald’s relatives believe the shooting may have stemmed from an ongoing feud between the two men, who were reportedly close associates.
According to family members, McDonald had been going through a “rough time” with the mother of his children and had allegedly accused the suspect of having an intimate relationship with her.
Relatives said tensions escalated on Wednesday morning after McDonald allegedly taunted the suspect about the suspect’s son in a WhatsApp status.
The suspect reportedly went to McDonald’s home to confront him about the post. The confrontation allegedly escalated into an argument, which ended when McDonald was shot.
Police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deadly shooting.
