(Kaieteur News) – Police in Regional Division 4 ‘B’ have launched an investigation into an alleged armed robbery that occurred on Friday, April 10, 2026, at approximately 15:53 hrs at a residence in Eccles, East Bank Demerara.
According to a statement from the police, three Chinese nationals had just returned home and were in the process of exiting their motor vehicle in the garage when they were confronted by four identifiable male suspects. One of the suspects was reportedly armed with a handgun. The perpetrators allegedly forced the victims into the house, where they proceeded to ransack both the upper and lower flats.
The statement said during the ordeal, the victims were relieved of a total of $500,000 in Guyana currency, US$900, 1,000 Mexican pesos, 200 Hong Kong dollars, as well as a Chinese identification card and other personal documents. Investigators have since retrieved CCTV footage from security cameras installed at the property, which is expected to aid in identifying and apprehending the suspects, police reported.
