Guyana battled the weather and a talented Bajan team to emerge winners of the bilateral U16 youth series.
Kaieteur Sports – After a back and forth battle against Mother Nature, the Guyana lads wrapped up a somewhat dampened bilateral series with a solid 36-run win over the Barbados youngsters during Easter Monday’s match played in Berbice at the Albion Ground.
The game was forced into a 20 overs per side affair after Guyana elected to take first strike following a successful win of the toss, making a modest 115-7.
Asgarally Nabbie led the batting with a run-a-ball 23 while skipper Lomar Seecharan chipped in with 16 with a 5-ball blitz from Gautam Dhanraj who slammed 16* which helped push Guyana over the 100-run mark.
Barbados misfired in the chase as they slid to 79 for 9 despite Shawnico Sargeant scoring 30, after Seecharan bagged impressive figures of 4-5 which helped keep the opposition under control.
All-rounder Leon Reddy bagged a pair of wickets to help the cause. Following the match,
Seecharan was named Player of the Match while other awards were distributed to players for their brilliant individual performances.
Nathan Bishop Most Runs (45 runs), Reddy copped and Most wickets award for 6 scalps, Makai Dowlin- Most catches (3), Bishop Most Dismissals (3) and Bishop again with 45 runs and his 3 dismissals earning him the MVP award.
