(Kaieteur News) – Keiron Warner, a 31-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene after he was pinned in his vehicle by a lorry, following an accident at Loo Creek, Soesdyke-Linden Highway, on Wednesday.
Police said an investigation has been launched into the incident which occurred around 06:30hrs, involving motor car PZZ 943 driven by Warner of Central Amelia’s Ward, Linden and motor lorry GXX 3002 driven by a 50-year-old male of Half Mile, Wismar, Linden.
“Initial enquiries revealed that the motor lorry was proceeding north along the western driving lane of the highway in the vicinity of Loo Creek, when the motor car, which was proceeding south along the eastern driving lane, allegedly at a fast rate, suddenly swerved in a south-western direction and collided head-on with the motor lorry,” police said.
Warner was pinned in the vehicle as a result of the collision, and received several injuries to his body. Shortly after the ambulance services were summoned, a team of Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) arrived on the scene and he was pronounced dead.
His body is currently at the Linden Hospital Complex awaiting a post-mortem examination.
The lorry is in police custody assisting with investigations. A breathalyser test was conducted, however, no trace of alcohol was detected, police added.
