(Kaieteur News) – Police on Sunday arrested two juveniles, ages 16 and 17 along with an 18-year-old while probing a violent attack on a man at First Lady Park, Windsor Forest, West Coast Demerara.
The attack was recorded with a cellphone by an eyewitness who alleged that it might be a brazen “broad day-light robbery.” Police in a press release said the assault took place around 14:00hrs on Saturday.
According to police, they have not yet received an official report.
“The Guyana Police Force is appealing to the victim, or anyone with information in relation to this matter, to come forward and make contact with the nearest police station”, police stated.
The video showed one of the suspects grabbing some items from the man while another held him in a vice grip and wrestled him the ground.
Eyewitnesses could be heard in the background pleading with them to leave the man alone.
“Hey stop it” a woman shouted as the suspect released the victim from his grip. He then pulled a large knife from waist and advanced to the victim before grabbing his slippers and fleeing the scene with his accomplices.
The suspects then entered a waiting red Toyota Carina Model 192 suspected to be their get-away car and escaped from the location.
Police during their investigation learned that the car’s registration number is PGG 6502.
That information led detectives to Zeelugt, East Bank Essequibo (EBE) where police arrested one of the suspects, a 17-year-old driver. The teen driver then assisted police in locating his accomplices an 18-year-old man of Zeelugt and another juvenile identified as a 16-year-old of Uitvlugt.
The trio, along with the car was taken into custody at the Leonora Police Station.
