Kaieteur Sports – After capturing top spots on the Guyana racing circuit and making their presence felt at international race meets, Slingers Racing Stable is leaving no stone unturned as they set their sights on another triumphant run in 2026. Anticipation has grown tremendously for the Banks Classic tipped to be the first race carded for 2026 at the Port Morant Turf Club on February 1.
With momentum firmly on their side, the powerhouse stable is gearing up for one of the most anticipated races on the 2026 racing calendar, “The Banks Classic” where they are determined to return to the winner’s circle in emphatic fashion while securing their spot for the 2026 Guyana Cup. With the new legislation solidified in parliament the Jumbo Jet Thoroughbred Racing Committee has initiated a structured qualification process that evens the playing field.
When contacted, Mr. Javid Ali, owner of Slingers Racing Stable, expressed strong confidence in his camp, stating that thus far they can guarantee their star sprinter ‘John Bull’ is fully prepped and ready to dominate the sprint classic. Mr. Ali further indicated, “John Bull is sharp, focused, and firing on all cylinders. We’re promising an electrifying run for everyone in attendance. Our entire team is extremely competitive and we take Horse Racing very serious and will not allow new comers to steal our glory. We know rivals are also pushing forward but we have in my view the best team to make 2026 a very successful year for us. So, I would like to urge all our supporters to join us on Sunday, 1st February 2026, at the Port Morant Turf Club for a highly anticipated showdown.”
As a tested and proven competitor and winner, John Bull is a seasoned sprint specialist known for his explosive early speed and strong finishing kick. The powerful bay gelding has consistently delivered under pressure, boasting multiple wins and surprise upsets against elite company. Trained with precision and discipline, John Bull thrives in high-stakes races and has earned a reputation for rising to the occasion when it matters most.
His consistency on the track, coupled with his fearless racing style, has made John Bull a household name within the horse racing fraternity and a fan favorite among punters and enthusiasts alike. As anticipation builds for race day, all eyes will be on Slingers Racing Stable and their formidable contender as they aim to once again stamp their authority on the sprinting stage. If preparation and confidence are any indication, John Bull may well be poised to charge his way into racing history once more.
Widely regarded as one of the premier sprint events, The Banks Classic has 10 electrifying races carded with a grand purse of over $15,000,000. Owners, trainers and jockeys have been intensifying preparations in recent weeks with the main focus set firmly on capturing one of the most coveted titles in the Guyana Horse racing circuit. Race officials at the Port Morant Turf Club have confirmed that the track conditions are ideal for the first race for 2026.
