Jackman, George set for rematch at Pro/Am Showdown on January 24
Kaieteur Sports – Guyana’s trailblazing boxer Abiola Jackman will step back into the ring on January 24 when she faces Trinidad and Tobago’s Eyed George at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, in a much-anticipated rematch that headlines the inaugural “Pro/Am Showdown” under the recently formed Caribbean Boxing Organization (CBO).
Widely regarded as two of the Caribbean’s finest female boxers, Jackman and George will renew their rivalry on Guyanese soil in what promises to be a defining moment for regional boxing.
Their first encounter took place in Trinidad and Tobago last January, where Jackman emerged victorious on points after a fiercely contested bout that showcased the grit and quality of both fighters.
The January 24 clash carries added significance, not only because it marks their second meeting, but also because it forms part of a new initiative designed to reshape the boxing landscape across the Caribbean.

The Pro/Am Showdown is the CBO’s first major event, blending professional and elite amateur talent in a platform aimed at elevating regional fighters onto the international stage.
Jackman enters the bout riding a wave of historic achievements.
Last May, she etched her name into Guyana’s sporting history by becoming the first boxer, male or female, from the country to win a gold medal at the Americas Boxing Confederation (AMBC) Elite Championships. Competing in the Women’s 81kg division in Ecuador, Jackman defeated Daniela Espana to secure the landmark title.
That gold medal added to an already impressive résumé, which includes being named Best Female Boxer at the 2025 Caribbean Boxing Championships in St. Lucia.
Her success also made her only the second Guyanese to medal at the AMBC Elite Championships, following Desmond Amsterdam’s bronze medal in 2022.
Despite Jackman’s accolades, Eyed George is expected to pose a serious challenge. Known for her toughness and ring intelligence, George pushed Jackman to the limit in their first meeting and will be eager to even the score.
CBO President and Briso Promotions CEO Seon Bristol have expressed excitement about the event, highlighting the high level of talent representing Guyana and the wider Caribbean.
The January 24 card will also feature several other marquee matchups. Guyanese featherweight Keevin Allicock will face Yendy Rodriguez of the Dominican Republic, while super middleweight Desmond Amsterdam takes on Wilson Fernandez, also from the Dominican Republic.
Additionally, Guyana’s Terrence Adams will square off against Trinidad and Tobago’s Anthony Joseph in a catchweight bout.
