FIFA Arena Mini-Pitch Site at Haslington gets inspection as work continues
The Guyana Football Federation (GFF), together with FIFA Regional Member Association Development Manager Amiel Mohammed, conducted a site inspection of the FIFA Arena Mini-Pitch at Haslington, East Coast Demerara, as development of the facility continues.The inspection was attended by GFF President Wayne Forde; Second Vice President Rawlston Adams, who has responsibility for infrastructure development, GFF General Secretary Pushpargha Chattopadhyay, members of the GFF Council, East Demerara Football Association President, Rickford Profitt and members of the EDFA.
Representatives of B&J Civil Works, the contractor responsible for the civil works, were also present, led by Chief Executive Officer Beverley Tapp.

The Haslington facility is the second of two FIFA Arena Mini-Pitches allocated to Guyana under the global FIFA Arena initiative, alongside the facility at Retrieve, Linden.
The initiative is aimed at expanding access to safe, quality football infrastructure and providing more opportunities for children and communities to participate in the game. The Haslington facility will also strengthen the GFF’s grassroots and youth development efforts along the East Coast Demerara.
GFF President Wayne Forde said:
“Projects like this matter because they put football where young people can actually access it. Haslington has a strong football community, and this mini-pitch will give more boys and girls a proper space to play, train and enjoy the game. That is the kind of practical investment we want to continue making across Guyana.”
The Haslington and Retrieve projects form part of the GFF’s wider infrastructure development vision. The Federation intends to progressively install additional mini-pitches across its Regional Associations, creating more accessible football spaces and giving communities across Guyana greater opportunities to participate in structured football development.
The long-term objective is to establish a stronger network of community football facilities that supports grassroots programmes, youth development and the identification of talent across the country. (GFF)
