(Kaieteur News) – Two men were arrested for possession of 21.5 kilograms of cannabis on Thursday morning along the Strathspey Public Road, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
Police said that during an operation at the said location a motorcar driven by a 35-year-old male from Glasgow Village, East Bank Berbice with a 31-year-old male passenger, a construction worker from Heathburn, East Bank Berbice was intercepted at about 09:00h.
“A search of the trunk of the said motor car revealed one bulky (salt) bag containing two bulky plastic wrapped parcels, each containing leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis,” police reported.
Both the driver and passenger were told of the offence, cautioned and arrested. They were taken to the Cove and John Police Station along with the cannabis, which was weighed, marked, sealed and lodged.
Investigations are being done by police in Regional Division 4 ‘C’.
