(Kaieteur News) – Police are hunting the driver of a speeding motor car who fled the scene after a deadly hit-and-run on Cemetery Road, Georgetown, shortly after midnight on Monday, leaving a 59-year-old electric cyclist dead on the roadway.
Police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run accident which occurred on Monday about 00:30hrs on Cemetery Road, Georgetown.
The accident involved motor car PAB 6212, a dark-coloured Toyota Rumion, driven by a male whose name, age and address are unknown at this time and an electric cycle EM 6699. Dead is Trevon Bacchus a 59-year-old of Roxanne Burnham Gardens, Georgetown who was riding the cycle at the time.
Preliminary investigations disclosed that motor car PAB 6212 was proceeding north along the western drive lane of Cemetery Road, Georgetown at an alleged fast rate of speed when the electric cyclist, who was proceeding north along the extreme western edge of the said road, was struck from the rear after the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle.
