The $24.8 million water ambulance which was handed over to the Regional Administration of Region Seven.
(Kaieteur News) – The Ministry of Health on Friday handed over a new $24.8 million water ambulance to the Regional Administration of Region Seven.
The ministry in a statement said that the vessel, procured at a cost of $24,883,154, is specifically designated to serve the residents of the middle and lower Mazaruni areas, significantly strengthening emergency medical evacuation networks and riverine medical outreach capabilities.

Minister of Health, Dr. Frank Anthony at the handing over, at the ministry’s Brickdam, Georgetown office.
Minister of Health, Dr. Frank Anthony who was present at the handing over ceremony said the ambulance is part of the Ministry’s broader master plan to build out a seamless transportation and technological grid across interior locations.
“We recognise that in Region Seven, we needed to have several river ambulances. On the request of the regional administration, we were able to procure this vessel to assist in bringing patients to central spots, when necessary,” the Minister stated.
He also emphasised that the integration of the water ambulance alongside previously distributed All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs) and land ambulances creates a highly connected regional network.
The water ambulance will be deployed into immediate service within the Mazaruni River’s clinical network, the ministry added.
“Crucially, this mobility is being paired with the Ministry of Health’s ongoing deployment of Telemedicine sites across Region Seven. Under this initiative, community health workers and medexes stationed at remote riverine posts can leverage real-time digital links to consult with specialist doctors, ensuring high-standard clinical guidance synchronously while emergency transport is underway,” the ministry reported.

This boat, like the previous ATV’s, Land vehicles are simply categorized
as “ambulances” without medical equipment, or personnel. They only have
an operator/driver, used only for transportation, like a taxi service- but free.
Some may have to pay depending on the driver/operator state of mind.
