(Kaieteur News) – Former People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR) Region Two Chairman, Prince Holder has tendered his resignation with immediate effect over issues with the party’s leadership.
Holder’s resignation letter was addressed to the party’s General Secretary, Sherwin Benjamin on December 8, 2025. He stated, “…recent developments within the Party has caused irreconcilable differences between the current leadership and me. As such, I have concluded that the only solution lies in my departure.”
Holder served as the PNCR Regional Chairman for seven years. In an invited comment, he told this newspaper that while he has given up that post, he will continue to function as a regional councillor and act in the interest of improving the lives of the residents and development of Region Two. He, however, indicated that he will not be participating in any level of activism on the party’s behalf.
The former Regional Party Chairman thanked the General Secretary, members and supporters in Region Two for their support during his tenure, as well as the party for allowing him to serve.
Holder’s resignation from the position comes amidst a massive drain of party members this year under the leadership of Aubrey Norton. The PNCR and the A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) by extension has seen resignations from several top members this year heading into the June 2025 elections.
Norton’s leadership has been blamed for most of the resignations tendered to date. In the meantime, Norton remains leader of the PNCR. He has however given up his seat in the National Assembly to make way for new faces. To this end, businessman Dr. Terrence Campbell leads the party in Parliament. APNU has secured only 12 seats in the National Assembly, while newcomer We Invest In Nationhood (WIN) headed by businessman Azruddin Mohamed secured 16 seats and former PNCR member Amanza Walton-Desir, who resigned this year and launched her own party – Forward Guyana, secured one seat.
