Kaieteur News – A post-mortem examination has confirmed that seven-year-old Isabella Dabadial died as a result of manual strangulation.
The autopsy was conducted on Tuesday by Dr.Vivekanand Bridgemohan at Bailey’s Funeral Home, in the presence of a relative. The child’s body was subsequently handed over to family members for burial.
The Cropper Primary School pupil lost her life on Sunday at her home in Fyrish Village. Authorities allege that her mother, Sarah Elizabeth Shivpersaud, 26, was responsible.
Shivpersaud is currently hospitalised at the Port Mourant Hospital under police guard after reportedly attempting to take her own life following the incident. She also allegedly attempted to harm her one-year-old child, who survived and is said to be in stable condition.
Speaking after the post-mortem, the child’s father, Trevor Dabadial, expressed deep grief over the loss of his daughter, describing her as bright and well-mannered.
“I made sure she didn’t miss a birthday… she was very smart and grew up with strong values,” he said, reflecting on their relationship.
Family members indicated that the suspect had been experiencing domestic difficulties in the lead-up to the incident.
According to reports, concern was raised after a social media post made by Shivpersaud suggested distress. Relatives later forced entry into the home, where the child and her mother were found. Both were rushed to hospital, but the child succumbed.
The surviving toddler has since been released into the care of family, with the Childcare and Protection Agency granting custody to the father.
Investigations are ongoing.
