Kaieteur Sports – Albion Community Centre Cricket Club (ACCCC) got the better of rivals Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club (RHTYSC) to advance to the final of the Ivan Madray T20 Cricket Competition.
They won by 34 runs in the game played at the Albion Community Centre ground on Saturday.
The game was set to be a keenly contested affair between two of the current top teams in Berbice cricket. A number of West Indies and National players were included in both line ups.
It was firstly reduced to an 18 over a side affair. Batting first after winning the toss, ACCCC reached 141 for 7.
Their batting was led by former Berbice Senior Inter-County batsman Kandasammy Surujnarine with an accomplished 48. Goodekesh Motie made 25, while Jonathan Foo struck 18.
Medium pacer Clinton Pestano picked up two wickets bowling RHTYSC.
They in reply were bowled out for 107 in 16.5 overs with West Indies all-rounder Kevin Sinclair striking 29, while Pestano returned to contribute 19.
The ACCCC bowling attack saw Captain Veerasammy Permaul with his left arm spin picking up four wickets, while Leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo and left-arm-spinner Kelvin Umroa supported with two each.
Defending champions ACCCC will now take on Tucber Park in the final at a date and venue to be announced. (Samuel Whyte)
