Kaieteur Sports – The Guyanese swimmers saw mixed results when the National Aquatic Centre opened their leg of the 2025 Inter-Guina Games.
In the Girls age 12-18 50m Backstroke, Ismael Holtuin copped Gold, while Guyanese Elissa Shipley-Thompson won the Bronze.
Guyana’s shining moment was Aarav Singh bagging Guyana’s only Gold medal in the Boys 12-18 100m Breaststroke.
Brothers Jeremy and Jeron Sookram of Guyana bagged Silver and Bronze in the 12-18 50m Backstroke category.
In the 200m Mixed Medley Relay race, Guyana grabbed the Silver medal after Jeremy Sookram, Jessica Sookram and Shipley-Thompson.
The swimmers from Suriname and French Guiana controlled the pool and the home swimmers will hope for an improved showing in today’s competition which resumes today from 10:00h.
