PFG offices vandalised again
…coordinator believes attack part of intimidation attempt
(Kaieteur News) – The offices of Policy Forum Guyana (PFG) were once again vandalised, following an earlier attempt on Tuesday, November 25, 2025.
Although full entry into the building was restricted by substantial grill-work and the MMC Security alarm system, the intruder(s) were able to twist and break sections of the grill to push their hands into the Coordinator’s office, PFG said in a statement.

Upon opening the office at approximately 9:49 a.m. on Thursday, the PFG Coordinator discovered that her office had been tampered with again. The desk was shifted, drawers were opened and rummaged through, and documents from shelves and work surfaces were pulled out and dumped on the ground.
Importantly, the building layout shows multiple windows along the ground-floor corridor. During the first breach, two windows were bypassed, and only the third window—directly in front of the Coordinator’s desk—was tampered with. During the second breach, the intruder(s) targeted only the third and fourth windows, both closest to the Coordinator’s desk, again bypassing other areas. These windows are fully opaque with grey metal coverings, preventing any view from outside.
“The repeated targeting of the same office and specific windows within such a short time period is cause for serious concern, suggesting that the intruder(s) were not acting randomly and may have been searching for particular files or attempting to intimidate the Coordinator,” PFG said.
As with the first breach, only the Coordinator’s work area was affected. Valuable items such as mobile phones and the internet modem were not stolen, even though they were within reach of the window. Instead, folders and files were opened and examined, reinforcing the view that the motive was not robbery. “These incidents occur during heightened public scrutiny of the Ministry of Natural Resources’ recent attempts to interfere in the selection of civic representatives to the Guyana chapter of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (GYEITI), a process in which PFG has played a prominent role. Police investigators from the Albert Town Criminal Investigation Division have visited the premises and are conducting follow-up investigations.”
“The pattern of these break-ins, the fact that high-value items were left untouched, and the repeated targeting of the same office and specific windows within a short time period suggest that this was not a casual act of theft,” said the Coordinator of PFG. “We view this as a direct attempt to intimidate us or access sensitive materials”. The PFG board condemns any effort to compromise its work and will continue to monitor and report on developments. Further updates will be issued as more information becomes available.
