A 27-year-old woman was on Monday found guilty of possession of 540 grams of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and sentenced to 32 months in prison.
Lisa Ramnarine, who appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Leron Daly, was also fined $810,000.
In 2022, the then 23-year-old woman was remanded to prison for allegedly smuggling cocaine in a religious item via a courier service.
She pleaded not guilty to that charge which alleged that on June 7, 2-22 at DHL’s Fifth Street, Albertown Georgetown Headquarters, she trafficked the 540 grams of cocaine.
Ramnarine, who was arrested by ranks of the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU), was remanded to prison.
