(Kaieteur News) – A 22-year-old gold miner was on Sunday shot and killed during a social gathering at Issano Landing, Region Seven.
According to information provided by the police, the dead man has been identified as Samuel Marciano of One Mile, Wismar, Linden. The fatal incident occurred around 01:00hrs on Sunday at a shop located at 14 Miles, Issano Landing.
Police said preliminary investigation revealed that Marciano was reportedly shot multiple times by two known individuals. “Upon responding, Police ranks discovered Marciano’s body with several gunshot wounds. A number of spent shells and a live round were recovered at the scene,” the police stated in its release.
This publication understands that his body was taken to the McKenzie Hospital, where it was pronounced dead. It was later transferred to the hospital’s mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.
The Police have indicated that they are actively pursuing leads to locate the two suspects and in doing so, they are appealing to anyone with information that may assist investigators to contact 911 or the nearest police station. Investigations are ongoing.
