(Kaieteur News) – The Embassy of Colombia is proud to welcome acclaimed Colombian playwright and actress Marilyn Biscaino Miller to Guyana as part of its cultural initiative, “Sounds and Stages of Origin: Weaving Cultural Networks between Colombia and Guyana.”
In a press release the embassy said Miller’s visit aims to strengthen artistic collaboration between the two countries through theatre and storytelling. The Embassy is partnering with the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport and the University of Guyana to facilitate her engagements with local theatre professionals and students.
Arriving in Guyana on Sunday, October 26, Miller will host two major workshops during her visit. On Monday, she will lead a two-hour intensive session for theatre professionals at the World Trade Centre’s Conference Room. The following day, Tuesday, she will conduct a “Collective Creation of Theatrical Workshop” at the Theatre Guild, focusing on the development and performance of original monologues.
Her visit will culminate with a special performance of her acclaimed production, “Comback…Comback – A Raizal Theatrical Monologue,” on Wednesday, October 29, at the National Cultural Centre. Miller will be available for interviews, and media are invited to cover Tuesday’s workshop.
“Comback…Comback” (from Creole: “Return…Return”) is a powerful and poetic theatrical monologue that honours the memory and cultural heritage of the Raizal women of San Andrés Island. Performed by Marilyn Biscaino Miller and directed by Juan Carlos Moyano, the piece fuses myths, legends, songs, and ancestral memories, offering an intimate journey through Afro-Caribbean identity, spirituality, and womanhood.
