Demerara, Essequibo battle shifts to 𝐍𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟏 – Teams given additional rest/prep time ahead of final

Kaieteur Sports – The Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) in consultation with tournament sponsors, Queensway Security Service Inc. have decided to afford the two finalists additional time to rest and recover ahead of their make-or-break battle for this year’s Senior Super50 Inter-County title.

The final, which was originally set for this weekend October 26, will now see the encounter being pushed back by roughly a week, following consultations between the GCB and tournament sponsors, Queensway.

Both entities agreed on affording defending champs Demerara and their opponents Essequibo, the time to recover having done most of the hard work to get where they’re at.

The match will still be hosted at the Joe Jagmohan Ground in Hampton Court, Essequibo Coast, with the GCB sending its best wishes to both finalists ahead of their match.

When these two sides met during the round-robin stages, the champs Demerara defeated the Cinderella County boys by 50 runs in their own backyard.

Fast-forward a few rounds later and both sides have scratched and clawed their way to the final, having endured some stiff competition from ousted teams; Berbice and the GCB Select XI.

However, Essequibo will be looking for revenge, playing in their home county, while Demerara aim to remain unbeaten and retain their championship.

The GCB also urged fans and cricket enthusiasts across the region to come out and witness some of Guyana’s top talent on display in the final.
