(Kaieteur News) – In a major move toward modernising public service delivery, the Ministry of Home Affairs on Tuesday launched its new Digitised Immigration Support Services (ISS) platform, developed in collaboration with the National Data Management Authority (NDMA).
The initiative, which fulfils a key commitment by President Dr. Irfaan Ali to digitalise government services across Guyana, marks a significant leap forward in the country’s ongoing digital transformation, the ministry said in a press release. The new online platform, accessible at https://eservices.iss.gov.gy — allows citizens and visitors to submit immigration applications electronically. These include applications for employment, business, student, and visitor visas, as well as extensions. Applicants can register online, upload supporting documents, and make payments either at the Ministry or via Mobile Money Guyana (MMG+).
Importantly, walk-in applicants will not be left behind. The Ministry said that in-person applicants can still use dedicated systems at the Immigration Support Services office, with staff on hand to provide assistance. Minister of Home Affairs, Oneidge Walrond, hailed the launch as a turning point in how citizens access government services. “For citizens, this new system offers shorter wait times, reduced congestion at service counters, and the convenience of applying anytime, anywhere — from home or office,” Minister Walrond said. “It’s about improving accessibility, transparency, and efficiency in how we serve the public.”
She noted that the platform represents a wider government drive to create technology-driven public institutions that meet the needs of a rapidly evolving society. “The Ministry is bridging traditional service delivery with modern technology to create a future where digital solutions simplify lives and strengthen institutions,” the Minister added.
The Ministry said the ISS platform will not only reduce paperwork and processing delays but also enhance accountability through digital tracking and record management. The launch of the system underscores the government’s broader commitment to building a smarter, more connected public service, in line with Guyana’s national digital transformation goals.
