Kaieteur Sports – The Guyana Police Force Football Club turned in one of their most ruthless attacking displays of the season, hammering Mainstay Goldstar 26–0 on Monday evening to storm into second place in the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Elite League standings.
With just four match days left in the campaign, the Police’s demolition job not only boosted their points tally but also their goal difference, giving them a vital edge in the battle for the runner-up spot against the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) FC.
The evening’s other fixture saw Santos and Monedderlust FC share the spoils in an entertaining 1–1 draw. The result leaves both clubs locked in mid-table, still scrapping for every point as the season reaches its climax.
Slingerz FC continue to set the pace with an unbeaten run after 15 outings. The ‘West Side’ giants are firmly in control, and with the trophy seemingly theirs to lose, the real intrigue now surrounds the dogfight between Police and GDF for second place.
Both sides still have two games left, including a second-round showdown with Slingerz, who will be determined to finish the season without a defeat. Earlier in the season, both Police and GDF fell 1–0 to the league leaders.
But Monday belonged to the Police Force, who went on a goal-scoring rampage against a helpless Mainstay outfit.
Leading the onslaught was Neron Barrow, who was simply unplayable. Barrow netted an astonishing ten goals (4’, 5’, 9’, 22’, 42’, 43’, 55’, 58’, 59’, 67’) to underline his status as one of the league’s most lethal forwards.

Action between Monedderlust and Santos in the GFF Elite League. The two sides played to a 1 – 1 draw in their latest fixture.
He was ably supported by Jemar Harrigan, who bagged a hat-trick (18’, 29’, 41’), while Adrian Aaron (77’, 90’), Daren Benjamin (35’, 53’) and Troyston Louisy (74’, 90’) all helped themselves to braces.
The floodgates truly opened as the goals kept coming from Simeon Moore (12’), Antonio McArthur (40’), Jadem Thom (45+2’), Dorwin George (50’), Sealon Sue (63’), Devon Padmore (85’) and Carl Griffith (87’).
The defeat compounded a nightmare campaign for Mainstay Goldstar, who have now conceded 62 goals in their last two matches, adding the GDF record-setting 36 goals against them.
With just eight goals scored and 200 conceded this season, their shocking –192 goal difference highlights the gulf in class at this level.
Meanwhile, Monedderlust snatched a valuable point thanks to Dawit Watts (38’), before Santos hit back through Kymani Sealey (66’).
Monedderlust now sit on 24 points, just one ahead of Santos on 23, though the Georgetown side enjoy a narrow edge on goal difference.
Elsewhere, Western Tigers FC remain in fourth on 34 points, while Ann’s Grove United (13), Den Amstel FC (12), and Fruta Conquerors FC (12) continue to battle inconsistency at the lower end of the table.
The Elite League action resumes this weekend with crucial double-headers at the GFF National Training Centre, where the race for positions is expected to intensify.
