Plaisance FC Crowned EDFA Youth Ensemble U13 Champions
…secure National C’ship Spot
Kaieteur Sports – Plaisance FC emerged as champions of the East Demerara Football Association (EDFA) Youth Ensemble U13 Competition after finishing the tournament with the highest points tally, bringing an exciting campaign to a close on Friday, July 18, at the Buxton Ground.
Plaisance FC secured the championship following a dramatic final round of matches. Buxton Stars FC, who entered the decisive fixtures level on five wins and eight goals alongside Plaisance, saw their title hopes dashed after suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat to Mahaica Determinators FC.

Buxton Stars FC finished as runners-up, while Melanie FC claimed third place and Golden Stars FC secured fourth. As champions and runners-up, Plaisance FC and Buxton Stars FC have both qualified for the GFF Youth Ensemble U13 National Championship, scheduled to be held between late July and early August.
Reflecting on the successful conclusion of the competition, East Demerara Football Association President Rickford Profitt praised the commitment of everyone who contributed to the tournament’s success.
“I have a heart of gratefulness and I’m very thankful for the coordinators, parents and volunteers. I’m happy we have completed the U13 competition, and next comes the U15 competition,” Profitt said.
The final day of competition delivered the same excitement and intensity that characterised the tournament from its opening whistle, with clubs from across the East Demerara corridor displaying impressive technical ability, teamwork and determination throughout the matches.
The EDFA Youth Ensemble Programme now shifts its focus to the ongoing U15 competition, which is expected to conclude in the coming weeks. The Guyana Football Federation congratulates all participating clubs, players, coaches, match officials and volunteers for contributing to another successful youth football competition and wishes Plaisance FC and Buxton Stars FC every success as they prepare to represent the association at the upcoming National Championship.
