Kaieteur Sports – A pair of commanding victories yesterday, courtesy of the West Side and Bush Lot Secondary Schools respectively as part of Zone 7’s semi-final round played at the Cotton Tree Ground, Berbice.

West Side Secondary beat Woodley Park Secondary by 69 runs

Taking first strike paid off from West Side Secondary who still made a winning 115-7 after 15 overs after a solid 35 off 20 from top-scorers Ricardo Danesar and Nathan Karamchand (13).

West Side Secondary, Bush Lot secure commanding wins

Bushlot Secondary Man-of-the-match, Afzal Amir.

Woodley Park bowlers did well during their innings, as Rafeek Ali (3-12) and Zaheed Khodabux (2-29) were excellent but failed to find help from their batters during the chase and were knocked over for 46-10 in 10.4 overs.

Only Mohit Nemdhari (13) reached double figures as the pair of Ricardo Laurie (3-7) and Romel Sukhnandan (3-11) ran through the batting order bowling for West Side.

Bush Lot Secondary beat Rosignol Secondary by 61 runs

Trevon Gladstone led a tough batting charge with a mere 15 runs as Bush Lot were kept to 91-7 in 15 overs batting first.

West Side High Man-of-the-match, Ricardo Danesar.

Two wickets apiece from Tyrel Paul (2-19) and Varinda (2-15) set the tone for Rosignol Secondary, who then misfired a simple chase and found themselves kept to a meager 30-6 in the 9th over; with no batter reaching double figures.

Bush Lot’s Afzal Amir was the chief destroyer with returns of 5-11 which kept his school in the game all throughout the match.
