Action in the game between Canje Secondary and New Amsterdam Multilateral School

Canje Secondary School whipped New Amsterdam Multilateral Secondary School by nine wickets to win the New Amsterdam/ Canje Zone of the BCB/ RBL Inter Secondary School cricket competition for schools in East Berbice.

The win by CSS has put them through to the overall final against Port Mourant Secondary School, who are the Central and Lower Corentyne Champions.

The game that was played at the Rose Hall Community Centre saw NAMS being asked to bat first. They found things tough against the CSS attack and were bundled out for 109 in 25 overs in the 30-over affair. Tamesh Deonandan (22) and Jaden Edwards (20) offered some resistance with the bat. Bowing for CSS, Zaden La Rose picked up three wickets.

In their reply, CSS, led by the Guyana Under-17 captain, Romario Ramdehol, made light work of the total, racing past the target in just 14 overs for the loss of one wicket.

Ramdehol was in a destructive mood as he hammered an unbeaten 75 that included 7 fours and 6 sixes to give his team an easy nine-wicket victory.

The final is set for this Friday at the Rose Hall Community Centre Ground.

The tournament began in 2023 and has been held up due to various circumstances.

The tournament was solely sponsored by the New Amsterdam Branch of Republic Bank Limited. A total of 17 schools were listed to participate in the tournament is being played on a knockout basis in the various zones. (Samuel Whyte)
